The Priory Group was created in 1980 when an American healthcare corporation purchased Priory Hospital Roehampton. Dr. William Wood, a Prominent Psychiatrist, founded the Roehampton location in 1872, and it has been in continuous operation since then. Priory expanded its services and bought other hospitals throughout the next few decades. With the purchase of the Jacques Hall Foundation in 1993, The Priory expanded into specialist education services, followed by an adolescent therapeutic community in Manningtree, Essex.

Waterland Private Equity purchased The Priory Group on January 19, 2021. MEDIAN, Germany’s leading provider of rehabilitation, neurology, and orthopedic therapies, runs 120 clinics and facilities with 18,500 beds and places across Germany, as part of Waterland’s current portfolio of firms. Following the acquisition, Waterland merged Priory’s and MEDIAN’s activities on July 12, 2021, to form Europe’s largest rehabilitation and mental health services provider, with a focus on health and social care services in the United Kingdom.

The Priory Group is committed to assisting people in improving their health and well-being, and we recognize that in order to achieve high-quality clinical outcomes, people require individually tailored programs that address their unique requirements.

Inpatient therapy at The Priory Group entails patients living at one of our hospital sites for a set period of time in order to receive rigorous treatment for their mental health issues. We provide inpatient treatment for a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, stress, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), as well as a variety of addictions through our exceptional Addiction Treatment Programs (available only to adults), and eating disorders when more intensive treatment is needed.

At The Priory Group, we recognize that residential treatment can appear to be a scary and intimidating proposition at first. This type of treatment, on the other hand, gives you the time, attention, and care you need to fully address your mental health challenges, address any underlying issues or triggers, enhance your quality of life, and build a strong and lasting recovery.
