Paradigm Malibu Treatment Center has been providing meticulously thought-out, Joint Commission-accredited mental health treatment to teens, young adults, and their families in safe, elegant residential environments for over a decade.

The staff-to-client ratio at Paradigm Malibu is the greatest of any teenage program in the country. Teens battling with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental or behavioural health difficulties, will benefit greatly from the residential rehab. The facility, which is owned by licensed mental health experts who specialize in the treatment of co-occurring disorders, provides the widest range of clinical services in youth treatment. Paradigm Malibu is committed to recognizing, comprehending, and addressing the underlying issues that affect teenagers and their families.

Paradigm Malibu provides 5-6 intensive individual therapy sessions per week, as well as group and family therapy on a weekly basis. Clients and their families have complete privacy and confidentiality. Treatment programs, both residential and telecare are also offered. The Joint Commission has given their seal of approval for Paradigm Malibu as they have experts in the treatment of adolescents aged 12 to 17 and young adults 18-25. Diagnostic tests and examinations in advance of treatment are available in their facilities as well as 5-week treatment plans suited to each client’s specific requirements. There are only 6 beds per facility, so there is a low client-to-clinician ratio. Medical, clinical, support, and executive professionals who are deeply committed will follow along with each client.

Using a customized blend of traditional, evidence-based, and sophisticated therapeutic strategies, Paradigm works directly with clients and their families to treat issues like anxiety, depression, grief and loss, mood disorders, and trauma. We address the socio-emotional underpinnings of those activities rather than focusing merely on behaviours. As a result, at Paradigm, we don’t use obsolete behaviour modification or punitive approaches like point systems or phase systems. Rather, we focus on the whole person and the distinct needs of each and every client and family we work with. As a cornerstone of its treatment philosophy, Paradigm promotes long-term efficacy, allowing young people to develop and hone the skills they need to live meaningful, productive lives long after they graduate.

Paradigm Malibu Treatment Center has the highest staff-to-client ratio in the country and the widest range of evidence-based therapeutic treatments. Before beginning treatment, every adolescent undergoes extensive diagnostic testing. Rather than focusing solely on the behaviours themselves, we address the emotional roots of those actions. We don’t employ outmoded behaviour modification strategies like point systems or phase systems. We provide gender-specific treatment, but not gender-exclusive treatment, which improves long-term outcomes significantly.

The many addictions and issues treated by Paradigm Malibu include anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, academic issues, personality disorders, behavioural addictions, family issues, anger and mood disorder, PTSD, ..

Regular individual therapy 5-6 times per week is a cornerstone of our approach, out of all the psychotherapeutic methods we use. Our clients benefit from daily meetings with a therapist in an intimate, one-on-one setting, which allows them to process their traumas, personal concerns, and solidify the work they are doing in other areas of our program. This allows clients to obtain valuable insight not only into their problems but also into how they are being dealt with within the confines of our program.

At Paradigm Malibu to help our clients get a deeper knowledge of who they are and the issues they face, we use a variety of evidence-based therapies. Our therapy approach is meant to provide teens and young adults with not just insight into their concerns and challenges, but also with practical coping methods and useful skills. As a result, we use a unique combination of trauma-informed and mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), psychoeducation, and Family Systems therapy.
